(LPL) – l programa comunitario “Desayuno con Libros” celebrará su octavo aniversario como un espacio que, durante años, ha servido para fortalecer la identidad, la convivencia y el acceso a recursos de la comunidad hispana en Memphis.
Lo que comenzó como una pequeña reunión entre familias se ha convertido en un movimiento ciudadano que, mes tras mes, reúne a decenas de personas en torno a un desayuno gratuito, la lectura y diversas actividades culturales en español. La celebración del octavo aniversario se llevará a cabo el sábado 21 de marzo, de 10:00 a.m. a 12:00 p.m., en el Gaisman Group Heart, lugar que ha sido sede constante de este encuentro.
Desde sus inicios, la iniciativa surgió como una respuesta comunitaria para visibilizar el aporte de las familias hispanas en Memphis. Así lo recuerda Yuleiny Escobar, una de sus organizadoras, quien destaca que el proyecto nació en un contexto de estigmatización hacia la comunidad, con el objetivo de mostrar una realidad distinta: la de hombres y mujeres que buscan prosperar y contribuir positivamente a la sociedad.
Además de la convivencia, el evento se ha convertido en un punto de encuentro para organizaciones sin fines de lucro, artistas y entidades que ofrecen servicios esenciales. Entre ellas, destacan las Memphis Public Libraries, que participan regularmente con actividades para niños, libros y manualidades. También se brinda información sobre salud, asistencia authorized y otros recursos comunitarios.
Para esta edición especial, los asistentes podrán disfrutar, además del tradicional desayuno, de pastel, rifas y diversas sorpresas. Los organizadores también invitan a voluntarios a sumarse desde las 9:00 a.m. o a colaborar después del evento.
